Well hello there everyone! Time for another "quick" update. I always say quick update, and then the post ends up being longer than intended, sorry not sorry as my better half would say.
On Tuesday (6/12/18) Jessica and I went back up to the clinic to visit with our doctor for what should be our final ultrasound, yay! We went in for a check up to measure the thickness and condition of Jessica's endometrium. Good news! Her body is responding well to the estrogen supplementation, and the endometrium progressed from 3.5mm in thickness to 6.3mm. This was welcome news as the doctor said she would prefer to see at least 5mm. With this news, we were excited and hoped to have our transfer take place either Wednesday or Thursday since we are departing on Friday (6/15/18).
Unfortunately our doctor said that Jessica would need to begin progesterone supplements for 5 days prior to the transfer. *Insert frustration here*. Up until this appointment, we had talked about moving our return trip back if necessary, to ensure that Jess would have enough time to rest for at least 24 hours after the transfer. Our doctor said we could do the transfer on Friday morning, but that would mean we would rush straight to the airport after the transfer for 16-17 hours of flying. Not ideal. She did say it would be ideal if we could push our flight back to Sunday, and do the transfer on Saturday morning. This would Jessica sufficient time on the progesterone medications, as well as allow her 24 hours of rest after the procedure.
So our updated itinerary will now have us departing Barcelona on Sunday (6/17/18) and arriving in Boise at 12:24am on Monday (6/18/18). I know what you're thinking, "But Cole, you get to spend two more days in Barcelona! How could you complain about that!!" While being here for the past 5 1/2 weeks has been a truly amazing experience for us, we are ready to come home. I am ready to sleep in my own bed, see my dogs/family/friends, drive my own truck, return to work even!!
At the end of the day though "whatever it takes" has been our motto and we are sticking to it! We are so excited for Saturday to be here, and to complete the transfer. We currently have 6 healthy embryo's on ice, and we will be transferring 2 of those on Saturday. Friday we will leave our apartment and check in to another hotel for the final two days of our stay here.
The past few days have taken us on a few different excursions, but we will add separate posts to update you all on those happenings.
Thank you all for tuning in to the update!
And thank you all for your kind words and positive vibes!
We cannot wait to return home to see all of you!
Love & Respect
-Cole
