Phase 2 Begins

On Monday, 5/14, we began phase 2 of this process. As a recap, phase 1 was 2 weeks of birth control in order to suppress my system's natural cycle. Phase 2 essentially amplifies it!

With phase 2 comes shots, and not the kind we did in college! This isn't our first experience with this medication, but I hope it's our last. The shots definitely are not fun, but I feel like I'm a pro at this point, although I definitely didn't start out that way. In fact, Cole and I fondly remember an incident during one of our IUI cycles where I went to stick myself with the needle in my belly and it bounced off my skin because I didn't push hard enough. It definitely hurt, but to add insult to injury, I knew I had to try again, only harder! Luckily I was more successful the second time around.

Also, we are scheduled for our first ultrasound on Friday 5/18 to see how well I am responding to the medications. The doctor will count and measure all of the follicles that I've grown and hopefully we'll be one step close to the next phase, which should be retrieval of the eggs if everything goes as planned.

In other news, we have moved to our apartment, which is actually in the city of Barcelona and is absolutely adorable! We have a washer and drying line so, after a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up essential items, we did a few loads of laundry before heading out to explore this part of town. We found a few more places that look good for tapas and cafe con leche, so we're looking forward to trying those out.
